This time they won the series in 7 games. In 1968 they also won in 7 games, this time against the St. Louis Cardinals. The fourth time that the Tigers won the World Series was in 1984 when they beat the San Diego Padres in 5 games.

One of the most famous players to ever play for the Detroit Tigers was Ty Cobb. Ty Cobb joined the team in 1905 and in 1907 he helped the Tigers win the American League Pennant. Ty Cobb also stole 96 bases in 1915 which at the time time was an all time record. This record would not be broken until 1962. Ty Cobb was also manager of the team from 1921 until 1927.
